24 November is the Teacher's Day in the Republic of Turkey!

The Founder of the Republic in Turkey, Atatürk not only revolutionized the regime of the government but he also performed many other reforms such as clothing code and the new alphabet of the nation. 

You see, back then, the Turkish language was being written with Arabic letters. Before that, in Central Asia, Turks wrote their language with Krill alphabet. Now, Latin suited the needs of the Turkish language in a better way. So; Atatürk first himself had to learn how to write Turkish in Latin alphabet. Then he started teaching. Literally. 

He fought battles against England, France, Russia and Italy and pulled off victory against all those super powers of the time.

He settled democracy in Turkey. The former Ottoman Empire appeared to be a republic thanks to his efforts.

He launched an industrialization project allthrough out the country.

He was a major commander of the World War One. 

He was a veteran.

And furthermore he still was able to learn how to write in a new alphabet himself first. So that he could demand the same from the nation.

In 24 November 1928, the national schools for modern education has been opened all over Turkey in order to raise a literate nation. And these schools were teaching in Latin alphabet.

In 1981, the 100th year of birth of Atatürk, Turkish state has set this day as the Teacher's Day.

Kutsi bir kabiliyettir öğretmek. İlahi bir meslek. Üstün bir yetenek.

Ulu Önder Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk 1. Dünya Savaşı'nda parlayan bir komutandı. Çanakkale'de bir dahi olduğu anlaşılıyordu.

Türk'ün Kurtuluş Savaşı'nda Dünya'nın en güçlü memleketleri İngiltere, Fransa, Rusya ve İtalya'ya karşı aynı anda çarpışıyor ve milletin kendisine duyduğu güven ve gösterdiği destekle zafer elde etmesini başarıyordu.

Bununla beraber göçmüş olan Osmanlı'dan yeni binyıllara uzanabilecek bir devlet yapılanması ortaya çıkarabilmek için gece gündüz çalışıyor ve ülkemizi demokrat bir cumhuriyet haline getiriyordu.

Sanayi hamlesi başlatıyor, kıyafet kanunu ile reform yapıyordu.

Tüm bunların yanında 50 yaşından sonra Türkçe'yi Arap alfabesi yerine Latin alfabesi ile yazıp okumayı öğreniyordu. Evet; Atatürk öğrencilik yapıyordu. Türk Milleti'nden yeni bir alfabe öğrenmelerini istemeden evvel kendisi bunu birebir yapıyordu.

24 Kasım 1928 tarihinde yurt genelinde Milli Mektepler açıldı. Bu eğitim kurumlarında vatandaşa Latin alfabesi ile yazıp okuyabilmeleri öğretilmeye başlandı.

Atatürk'ün yüzüncü doğum yılı olan 1981'de Türkiye Cumhuriyeti bu tarihi Öğretmenler Günü olarak kabul etti.
